Draka
Communications Optical Fiber has a long history in producing fibers optimized for use in
nuclear radiation environments. Combining the excellent performance of its
proprietary deposition process (PCVD) Draka Communications has developed high quality
multimode and single mode fibers for military and industrial applications where
nuclear radiation plays an important role.
In 1999
the Draka Communications fiber production plant in Eindhoven was certified by the US
Defence Supply Center in Columbus (DSCC), part of the US DoD Defense Logistic
Agency (DLA) for the MIL-STD-790 product assurance program. This highly
respected military quality certificate, obtained after thorough on-site audits,
underlines Draka's high quality management.
Following that important event a wide product range has been tested for its
nuclear performance in US military and space applications and type approvals
have been obtained. (MIL-PRF 49291 series). Qualified Draka Communications products can
be viewed at DLA/DSCC qualified products list (QPL):
